On 31st October, Mansell took part in the TOCA Shootout at Donnington Park driving a Ford Mondeo in front of a crowd of 90,000 people. He retired from the race after having crashed into the bridge parapet following a collision with Tiff Needell. The 120MPH accident left Mansell unconscious but he made a full recovery

Charlie Cox an Australian in 1995 competed in the BTCC in a Ford Mondeo with sponsorship from the Evening Standard newspaper. He caused a sensation in a wet race early in the season by finishing 5th, although behind both works Fords, choosing the correct tyres and recovering from an early spin. However, a huge barrel-rolling crash at Thruxton left him with concussion, and caused him to miss several races. When he returned it was in a hatchback Mondeo, making him the first driver to race one in the BTCC.

Claudia Hürtgen (born September 10, 1971 in Aachen) is considered one of Germany's best female drivers. Claudia started with karting and moved to German Formula 3. In 1993, during the F3 invitational race during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, she suffered injuries in a roll-over crash, ending her career in single-seaters. She made a come back with touring cars in 1995, she won the 1995 Austrian Championship.
