Ford Cortina GT MK2 driven by Bengt Soderstrom and Gunner Palm in the 1967 Safari Rally.  They led the rally initially but the car developed alternator problems which prevented them from using all their lights.  They were unable to see a huge trench running across the road and being first on the road they hit it and had to retire from the rally.

Team Manager Alan Mann had a very close relationship with Ford and ran a number of Ford racing cars in his famous livery. Lotus Cortina CTC 24E was built in 1968 as a stopgap because the new Escort Twin Cam could not be homologated in time. With a 205 BHP Cosworth-Ford FVA engine and every spare ounce taken from the car it was a very rapid machine.
